| ℹ️ Updated in version 15.0: Beacon Drops have been retired. The Beacon system now uses two items — Beacon Energy and Beacon Sparks — instead of three. . Updated in version 15.1: Beacon Energy drain was increased substantially to better reflect actual player activity. Most Waystations should settle around a stable level of rank 6 or 7. |
Beacon Energy is what keeps your Waystation alive and growing. Contributing it to the Beacon before a storm is one of the most important things you can do as a community member — it maintains Waystation status and earns you Beacon Sparks as a reward.
The two Beacon items
| Item | What it is | How you get it |
| Beacon Energy | The primary offering item. Contribute to your Waystation Beacon to maintain status and earn Sparks. | Completing quests, helping Villagers and Spirits, participating in world events and Wilderness activities. |
| Beacon Sparks | A reward currency earned after storms. Spend in Village Shops and on Storm-Plagued Lanterns. | Earned after each Waystation Storm, as long as you contributed Beacon Energy before the storm. |
| ⚠️ Beacon Drops were removed in version 15.0. If you had Drops, they were automatically converted to Beacon Energy at a 20:1 ratio — claim your converted Energy via in-game mail. |
Contributing Beacon Energy
Take your Beacon Energy to the Beacon in your Waystation and select the offerings option. You can contribute in batches of 100, 200, or 300 Energy — each batch converts to Sparks at a 100:1 ratio. The daily offering cap has been removed in 15.0, so you can contribute as much as you have, as often as you like.
| 💡 Tip: Contribute before a storm. If you miss the window, you won't receive that storm's Beacon Spark reward. |
Waystation status levels
Your Waystation's status reflects how well the Beacon is being maintained. With the 15.1 rebalance, energy drain now correlates more closely with player activity — active Waystations should settle around rank 6 or 7. Capacity only changes after a Waystation Storm — not continuously.
| Status | What it means |
| Radiant | Beacon is receiving more than enough contributions. Waystation is growing. |
| Sufficient | Contributions are meeting the Beacon's daily needs. Status is stable. |
| Insufficient | Not enough contributions. Capacity may decrease after the next storm. |
| Post-Storm | The Waystation recently experienced a storm. Check your inbox for the summary letter. |
| ⚠️ If Waystation Capacity drops to Level 1 after a storm, the Waystation is destroyed and all residents are transferred. Contribute regularly to keep status healthy. |
| ℹ️ Name history: Beacon Keys were renamed to Beacon Sparks in version 14.6. Beacon Drops were removed in version 15.0. Older guides referring to 'Keys' or 'Drops' mean Sparks and Beacon Energy respectively. |
