Where do I find the version number?
Please open your game's Options Menu, ideally from within the save you're playing on (as opposed to from the title screen). The version number is displayed at the bottom. Please note that, if you are trying to communicate this to us, the preferred way is with a screenshot so you don't make typos (everybody's human).
- Note that if you're communicating the version number to our official support staff, we want the WHOLE thing, not just the first few numbers. I'm sorry it's long—that's another reason we suggest sending a screenshot.
- You may find other version numbers if you poke around your device/system. These exist for technical reasons; however, if you're communicating with us, please always use the number in the Options menu as described above.
How do I know if my game is before/on/after such-and-such version?
Compare the numbers before the first plus sign in the version number (the letters do not matter). In the screenshot above, this player is on version 1.5.2, so should they have already received any changes made in versions 1.4.1 or 1.5.0, etc., since those numbers are lower. (The rest of the version number is important in other ways, but the first few numbers are the part relevant to answering this particular question.)
- Note that if you're communicating the version number to email@example.com, we want the WHOLE thing, not just the first few numbers.
- Very old versions of the PlayStation, Xbox One, and Switch versions were using different numbering systems that don't allow for easy evaluation. (E.g., at some point I saw a console version number beginning with 22.214.171.124, and even I can't tell whether that's before/on/ahead of version 1.4.0—it's not as simple as dropping the last number.) This was rectified in version 1.5.2. (That said, at the time I make this edit, all platforms are on at least version 2.2.0. Please update your game if you see anything less than 2.2.0.)
