There are occasionally troubleshooting tasks that require you to access hidden files or folders on your computer (files and folders that are typically kept invisible so that people don't accidentally edit or delete them). This FAQ tells you how to make such files visible.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- From the Tools menu, choose the "Folder Options..." menu entry.
- When the Folder Options dialog comes up, switch to the View tab.
- In the "Advanced settings" field, navigate the folder structure to find the "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" option shown in the picture below. Select that option.
- Click Apply.
- Click OK.
All hidden files and folders should no longer be invisible. Note that access to some of these files and folders might still be blocked by your security settings.
